Rekha Gupta, first-time MLA, named as Delhi Chief Minister
Rekha Gupta, the debutante MLA from Shalimar Bagh, has been chosen to be Delhi’s next Chief Minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party said after a Delhi legislative party meeting at its national headquarters on Wednesday evening. Ms. Gupta, 50, will be the fourth woman to head the government in the State.

Surrender looted weapons within seven days, says Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Thursday (February 20, 2025) appealed to all communities in Manipur to surrender looted weapons within seven days. “Your single act of returning these weapons can be a powerful gesture towards ensuring peace,” said Mr. Bhalla.
He assured that no punitive action would be initiated if such weapons are returned within the stipulated time.
Vulgarity on social media: Centre issues advisory to OTT platforms, self-regulation bodies
Amid a row over vulgar jokes on social media, the Centre has cracked the whip and warned OTT platforms against transmitting content that is prohibited by the law.
In an advisory to over-the-top (OTT) platforms and self-regulatory bodies, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting also asked them to strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics prescribed under the IT Rules-2021 while publishing content, including stricter adherence to the age-based classification of content.

A Special Bench of Justices B.R. Gavai, Surya Kant and A.S. Oka issued notice to the Union Government and sought the assistance of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, senior advocates Kapil Sibal and P.B. Suresh. Justice Gavai said the Lokpal order delivered by a Bench headed by former Supreme Court Judge, Justice A.M. Khanwilkar, was “disturbing” and concerned the independence of the judiciary.
