ECI allays fears on duplicate Voter ID numbers; says will ensure unique ID
Taking cognizance of certain reports that electors in two different States were getting the same Voter ID numbers, the Election Commission of India on Sunday (March 2, 2025) said irrespective of the EPIC number, a person can cast a vote only at their designated polling stations in their respective constituencies in their States or Union Territories. The Commission said that it would remove these duplications and ensure that each voter gets a unique EPIC number.

Uttarakhand avalanche rescue: Four more bodies pulled out of the ice, death toll is 8 at the end of 60-hour rescue operation
The bodies of the last four workers trapped by an avalanche at Uttarakhand’s Mana village were recovered on Sunday, ending a 60-hour long multi agency rescue operation at 10,500 feet above sea level amidst heavy snowfall. The final death toll reached eight, though 23 trapped workers were safely pulled out by Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police teams who worked relentlessly for almost three days.

Court orders FIR against ex-SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch, five others
A special court in Mumbai has directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to register an FIR against former SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and five other officials in connection with alleged stock market fraud and regulatory violations. “There is prima facie evidence of regulatory lapses and collusion, requiring a fair and impartial probe,” the special ACB court judge, Shashikant Eknathrao Bangar, said in the order passed on Saturday.
