‘Need of the hour’ is to raise OBC creamy layer income limit, House panel tells govt.
A parliamentary committee looking into the welfare of Other Backward Classes on Tuesday (April 1, 2025) said it was the “need of the hour” to raise the ₹8 lakh income limit for weeding out the “creamy layer” within OBCs, saying that this limit, set more than seven years ago, was “low” and covered only a “small segment of OBCs”.
Massive fire at building in Delhi’s Jhandewalan extension, no one injured
Several cars were gutted in a massive fire that broke out at commercial complex building in central Delhi’s Jhandewalan extension on Tuesday (April 1, 2025) afternoon, Delhi Fire Services officials said. Fifteen fire tenders were deployed to douse the blaze, they said, adding that a call regarding the incident at Anarkali Complex in Block E 3 was received at 2.35 pm, an official said.
