Four killed, at least 36 injured as BEST bus crashes into vehicles at Mumbai’s Kurla Bhaji Market

Three persons died and at least 20 others were injured after a bus of the Mumbai’s civic transport body BEST rammed into pedestrians as well as vehicles at Kurla Bhaji Market in Mumbai on Monday night (December 9, 2024), police and municipal corporation officials said. It is suspected the accident near the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) L Ward in Kurla took place due to a brake failure, they said, adding the bus driver has been detained.

All India Lawyers Union demands action against Allahabad HC judge for speech at VHP event

The All India Lawyers Union on Monday (December 9, 2024) wrote a letter to the President and Chief Justice of India seeking action against Allahabad High Court judge, Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, for his speech at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) event. Israeli army in Golan buffer zone violates 1974 deal: UN

Israeli troops that have moved into the buffer zone on the edge of the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights “constitute a violation” of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Israel and Syria, a UN spokesman said on Monday (December 9, 2024). The UN peacekeeping force deployed in the Golan Heights, known as UNDOF, “informed the Israeli counterparts that these actions would constitute a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement,” said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Foreign Secretary Misri conveys India’s ‘concerns’ about security of minority communities in Bangladesh

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Monday (December 9, 2024) conveyed India’s “concerns” over the safety and security of minorities in Bangladesh and urged the interim government there to follow a “constructive approach”. Mr. Misri made the remarks while holding a Foreign Office Consultation with his Bangladeshi counterpart, Mohammad Jashim Uddin, in Dhaka.
