India-Canada diplomatic row: Canada’s ‘absurd’ charges will have dire effects, says India

Canada’s allegations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah were “absurd and baseless”, said an official of the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday (November 2, 2024). The Official Spokesperson of the Ministry, Randhir Jaiswal, said Chargé d’Affaires of the High Commission of Canada Jennifer Daubeny was summoned on Friday (November 1, 2024) and conveyed that Ottawa’s charges will have “serious consequences” for bilateral relations.

Jaishankar, Thai counterpart discuss bilateral ties, multilateral cooperation

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Thai counterpart Maris Sangiampongsa discussed bilateral ties, multilateral cooperation and regional developments during a meeting in Delhi. Mr. Jaishankar said Mr. Sangiampongsa’s visit for the Royal Kathina ceremony “exemplifies the longstanding historical and cultural relations” between the two countries.

Verification patrolling begins in Depsang: India

The Indian Army has commenced verification patrolling at Depsang, the second friction point in eastern Ladakh, the government said. Replying to a query at a weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said following the disengagement agreement with China, the verification patrolling has begun on mutually agreed terms in both Demchok and Depsang.

Three militants, including wanted LeT ‘commander’, killed in Kashmir gunfights

Three militants, including wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) ‘commander’ Usman Lashkari, were killed in two separate anti-militancy operations in Kashmir on Saturday (November 2, 2024). Two policemen and two CRPF jawans were also injured in the operations.

‘The Supreme Court (Number of Judges) (Amendment) Act 2024’ which sought to increase the number of judges from 17 to 25 was moved in the Senate last month by independent senator Abdul Qadir to deal with the rising number of "pending cases".

Sikhs pilgrims from U.K., U.S. and Canada to get free online visas in Pakistan: Interior Minister

Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Sikh pilgrims from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada will receive free online visas within 30 minutes upon arrival in the country to pay respect to their religious sites.

Mr. Naqvi's remarks came as he met with a 44-member foreign delegation of Sikh pilgrims in Lahore on Thursday (October 31, 2024).
