Budget session of Parliament from July 22
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced via an X post that the Hon’ble President of India, on the government's recommendation, has approved the summoning of both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session 2024. The session will be held from July 22 to August 12, 2024, subject to parliamentary business exigencies. The Union Budget 2024-25 is scheduled to be presented in the Lok Sabha on July 23, 2024.
NEET-UG counselling likely to begin by month-end
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 counselling is expected to commence by the end of this month, according to official sources. Initially anticipated to start in the first week of July, the counselling process has been delayed as authorities have yet to announce an official schedule. The delay is partly due to the ongoing process of issuing permission letters to some medical colleges, with additional seats likely to be included.
T.N. BSP leader Armstrong murder: 8 arrested, supporters stage road roko in Chennai
The Chennai city police have arrested eight suspects in connection with the murder of K. Armstrong, the Bahujan Samaj Party's Tamil Nadu president. Armstrong was murdered in Sembium on the night of July 5. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin stated on July 6 that he had instructed the police to expedite the investigation and ensure those involved are brought to justice.
Fourth case of rare brain-eating amoeba infection reported in Kerala
A fourth case of amoebic meningoencephalitis, a rare brain infection caused by a free-living amoeba found in contaminated water, has been reported in Kerala. A 14-year-old boy from Payyoli in northern Kerala is currently being treated for the disease at a private hospital, according to hospital sources.
