Vladimir Putin accepts PM Modi’s invitation to visit India, preparations underway: Russian FM Lavrov
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India and preparations are underway for it, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday (March 27, 2025). In a video address to a conference titled “Russia and India: Toward a New Bilateral Agenda” hosted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Mr. Lavrov said, “Arrangements are currently being made for Putin to visit India.”
Centre issues heatwave advisory to States/Union Territories
The Central Government on Thursday (March 27, 2025) directed States to review their preparedness of health facilities for the management of heatstroke cases and heat-related illnesses. The Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava in her letter noted that with the onset of summer, an increase in the exposure to heat, including extreme conditions may occur.
CA Final exams to be held thrice a year from 2025: ICAI
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced on Thursday (March 27, 2025) that the CA Final exam would now be held three times in a year instead of two. The exams would be in the month on January, May and September. The decision was taken at the 26th Council meeting of the apex regulatory body for chartered accountancy in the country.

Three policemen killed, three security personnel injured in a fierce firefight with militants in Kathua
Three policemen were killed and three security personnel, including two policeman and one Army jawan, were injured in the ongoing operation in Kathua. Two militants are also believed to be killed in the operation, as around four more militants are suspected to be active at the encounter site, said official sources. Officials said the hiding militants opened indiscriminate fire at the police patrol. The injured were hospitalised immediately and are stated to be “stable”.

Five wounded in stabbing in Amsterdam, suspect detained
A knife-wielding assailant in Amsterdam seriously wounded five people — including two from the United States, one from Belgium and one from Poland — in a stabbing attack Thursday (March 27, 2025) on a busy shopping street, Dutch police said. The attack lasted several minutes before the assailant was stopped by a passerby near the city’s Dam Square in the late afternoon. Police cordoned off the area and several ambulances and a trauma helicopter were called to the scene.

King Charles III was hospitalised for observation on Thursday (March 27, 2025) after experiencing “temporary side effects,’’ related to a scheduled cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace said in a statement. Madhya Pradesh HC allows incineration of remaining Union Carbide waste at Pithampur facility
The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday (March 27, 2025) gave its nod to the State Government after it assured that it could incinerate the remaining Union Carbide waste within 72 days at a private facility in Pithampur. The nod from a Division Bench of Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Vivek Jain came after the State authorities submitted an affidavit with the reports of incineration of the 30 tonnes of waste under the three trial runs conducted in the past one month.

The Income Tax Department has issued notices to Taxpayers who have been paying a rent of ₹50,000 or more per month and not deducted Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) while remitting the amount to landlord, a tax expert said. Many taxpayers have received a notice from the Income Tax Department pertaining to the assessment years 2023-2024 and 2024-25 stating that you made a claim of House Rent Allowance (HRA) for specific years and not deducted TDS on that.

CBSE students not found attending regular schools will not be allowed to appear for Class 12 board examinations, officials said and added that the onus of taking admission in “dummy schools” lies with students and parents. In its ongoing crackdown on “dummy schools”, the Central Board of Secondary Education is contemplating amending examination bye-laws to disallow such students from appearing in the board exams and will have to take the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) test.
South Korea battles worst-ever wildfires as death toll hits 26
